The 3rd Trophy Bassmasters tournament took place on Alum Creek after and all-day soaking rain the previous day which both cooled off the water and brought plenty of muddy water into the reservoir. We were all pleased that the rain stopped just before the tournament began, but fishing conditions were tough to say the least. Virgil Grant’s limit of 5 fish over 12 inches won him 1st place and moved him into 2nd place in the Angler of the Year race. Virgil also received the first individual trophy of the season which is a new feature that was donated by Boyd Downey, our President. Kelly Dearwester managed the only other limit of the day to finish in 2nd place and move to 4th in the AOY race. Don Ratcliff managed the big bass of the day with a 4.16 lb largemouth which combined with his 3rd place points tie him for points with 2nd place. Don is also our AOY leader by 4 points over Virgil Grant.
