The 3rd Trophy Bassmasters club points tournament took place on Sunday, April 26. Even with warmer than normal temperatures for the month of April, we managed to pick a weekend with below normal temps from the low 40s to mid 50s. The fish didn’t seem to notice the chill since several limits of largemouth we caught.
Virgil Grant led the pack by returning to the winner’s circle with a nice bag of 10.28 pounds with a big bass kicker of 2.77 pounds. Chad Asel stepped up to catch 5 for a 2nd place finish. Logan Barker finished 3rd with 7.52 pounds. Only .05 pounds behind Chad.
The AOY race is led by Virgil Grant with a whopping 99-point total after 3 tournaments. He has improved from 3rd place to 2nd place to 1st place each week. He has a 14-point lead over his nearest challengers. It will be a challenge to overcome this lead even though the season has barely started.
