The Trophy Bassmasters were more than happy to return to the productive waters of Lake Erie and its embayments. Following 3 inland lake tournaments with meager catch rates 16 members and 3 guests brought in 84 bass which included 11 limits of 5 keepers each after a day on the big waters up north.
Chad Thrush obviously likes the location as this is his 2nd top finish at Erie this year. Thrush finished 2nd on April 12th by just 5oz with 19lb even. This time his 5 fish limit of small mouth bass weighed an almost identical 18.95lbs and was easily enough for the win. Virgil Grant once again placed high. Grant had 17.73lbs for 2nd place including the day’s big bass of 4.33lbs. Larry Pennington had a 16.02lb limit to finish 3rd. Grant has used his top finishes to take over the Angler of the Year point race although Bert Grubbs is just 2 points behind.
Notice! Only 1 bass with minimum length of 18″ is allowed to be brought to weigh-in. Only a weighed bass will qualify for Big Bass. You will receive the larger of the actual weight or the “paper weight” for your catch. A 5 bass limit total will be allowed. Please print your sheet and take it with you.
