Trophy Bassmasters traveled south for a change to fish the 18th tournament this year. Only one tournament remains in the race for AOY, but Don Ratcliff has already clinched the title this year. Congratulations to Don for an outstanding year already.
Alum Creek began with promising indicators that a lot of fish would be caught. a full moon, overcast morning clouds, cooling water temps and light winds all suggested the fishing conditions were set for a great day of catching. As you can see by the results, someone forgot to tell the fish what to do. To be fair, there were balls of baitfish everywhere so there was no lack of food.
Chad Thrush notched his second win this season with the only limit of 5 bass. Chad has had an outstanding season when he has been able to fish. Logan Barker had another strong showing on Alum Creek as he did last year. Logan was took 2nd place with 3 fish. Kelly Dearwester managed 2 bass to round out the top 3. AOY winner Don Ratcliff only caught 1 bass but it was the big bass of the day by one-hundredth of an ounce over Logan Barker to collect 2 big bass points and increase his AOY point total to 310 points!
This is the last points tournament before the Classic next week and boat numbers have been assigned. Please see the Classic Scoresheet for your boat number. We have 18 qualified members for this year’s tournament.
